PURPOSE:To obtain the anisotropic orientation sheet which is well usable as the precise phase difference compensation sheet used for a liquid crystal display device and has a uniform double refraction characteristic. CONSTITUTION:This sheet is the phase difference compensation sheet stretched and oriented with a crosslinked transparent thermoplastic resin and is, for example, ion crosslinked or chemically crosslinked or electron crosslinked. More preferably, the sheet molded by extrusion molding to a sheet shape is irradiated with electron beams, etc., and is thereby crosslinked to 1 to 90wt.% gel fraction. The dependency of the degree of orientation on heating temp. is lowered by crosslinking the resin before stretching and orienting in such a manner. Namely, the crosslinked thermoplastic resin hardly generates a difference in the degrees of orientation of the molecules insofar as the stretching magnification and anisotropy are equal, even if a difference arises in the heating temp. at the time of stretching. |
