<p>PURPOSE: To provide a method and an apparatus intended to simplify both heating and treatment means to effect cost reduction. CONSTITUTION: This method comprises the following steps: a step in which a plurality of strand feeders are subjected to reciprocating motion across the surface of a conveyor being in motion, at least one strand is drawn from a feed source by each of the strand feeders, these strands are discharged from the respective feeders and accumulated on the upper surface of the conveyor to form a loose fibrous mat structure, a step in which a resin is distributed substantially throughout the structure, a step in which an assembly of the loose fibrous mat structure and the resin is passed through between the conveyor and at least one heated roller, and a step in which the loose mat is compacted and heated to expel moisture from the mat and melt the resin to mutually bind the individual glass strands forming the mat structure.</p> |
