PURPOSE:To provide the optical detecting device for temperature having a simple constitution by changing the diameter of an optical fiber at the intermediate position thereof in a taper-like manner and by wrapping the outer periphery of the tapered part with a member whose refractive index changes in accordance with temperature. CONSTITUTION:The optical fiber 11 is constituted by a core 14 and a clad 15 covering the core 14. The outer periphery of the tapered part 12 is wrapped with the member 13 so as to meet constantly the condition of n1>n2>n3, where n1 is the refractive index of the core 14, n2 the refractive index of the clad 15 and n3 the refractive index of the member 13, when the optical fiber 11 is a multimode optical fiber, and so as to meet constantly the condition of n1>n2<n3 when the fiber 11 is a monomode optical fiber. The refractive index of the member 13 changes according to temperature and thus the luminous energy passing a temperature detecting part A changes according to temperature. Therefore, by detecting this luminous energy, the temperature is measured. |
