Orthopaedic inserts for sports shoes, specially for tennis and basket ball shoes, consists of an ankle support with two pads, joined by straps, and an anatomically shaped foot support. The latter has near the heel an oval recess on the underside, a gentle rise to attenuate the sagittal shear, and rim supports. The pads are made of silicone rubber or foam and the foot support is made of the same material or of elastic but incompressible PVC.
