A circuit (12), processing the signals from sensors of front and rear bodywork accelerations (14,15), steering angle (16) and throttle flap position (17) feeds a microprocessor (11) in conjuction with a signal from a brake warning light switch (18). The damping force of each shock-absorber (21-24) is reduced by the opening of an electrically actuated by-pass valve connected to the power amplifier stage (25). The microprocessor's program checks whether medium to strong damping force is required. ADVANTAGE - Increasing wheel acceleration leads to redn. in damping when, and only when such a redn. is consistent with safety.
