摘要 PURPOSE:To easily couple semiconductor parts and a quartz optical waveguide with high accuracy. CONSTITUTION:A semiconductor module 15 which is constituted by fixing a semiconductor amplifier 19 and the front ends of two pieces of spherical end fibers 18 optically coupled to face each other via this semiconductor amplifier with a module 20 for fixing is formed. On the other hand, a module embedding part 16 for embedding the module 20 for fixing in the quartz glass waveguides 14 consisting of a core part 12 and a clad part 13 and two pieces of fiber guide grooves 17, 17 having approximately the same diameter as the fiber diameter of the spherical end fibers 18 via this module embedding part 16 are formed. Two pieces of the spherical end fibers 18, 18 of the above-mentioned semiconductor module 15 and the module 20 for fixing are respectively embedded into two pieces of the fiber guide grooves 17, 17 and the module embedding part 16 and the other ends of the spherical end fibers 18 and the optical waveguide are connected by an adhesive and are optically coupled, by which the active type optical parts are constituted.
