PURPOSE: To make it possible to cut slots which are satisfactory as spinning mouthpiece orifices by a laser beam. CONSTITUTION: The apparatus of this process consists of a table 12 which supports a metal plate 14 and a laser energy source 10 which is movable in X-, Y- and Z directions. A solid, such as rod 30, is used for the laser oscillation source and the deterioration in the quality of the laser is prevented by disks having holes 34, 35 and mirrors 36, 38. The multimode laser beam is reduced to a single mode of a TEMoo mode by passing through these disks and is further focused to a diameter about 35 to 40 μ on the metal plate by optical lenses 40, 42, 46, 50. Pure oxygen is supplied from a gas supply source connected to a processing head. The metal oxide particulates condensed from a vapor phase and the molten metal solidified on the slots are removed by recutting of the capillary slots by the laser. |
