PURPOSE:To enable the implementing of a batter measurement of rays in a relatively short time and with an inexpensive apparatus by computing a difference of output signals from a CCD by irradiation rays between open state and closed state of an ray shutter. CONSTITUTION:A photodetecting section 2 generates electric charges matching to the quantity of incident light and the amount of alpha rays and has a CCD image sensors 1 arranged in a matrix. The electric charges generated in the element 1 are transmitted to a vertical charge transfer register 6 through a transfer gate 8 and transferred vertically with the register 6. The electric charges are transferred sequentially with a horizontal charge transfer register 7 to be outputted as a measuring signal. Then, an ray shutter 3 is closed and an output signal of the element as produced when no rays irradiate the photodetecting section 2 is stored into a memory 4. The ray shutter 3 is opened and the output signal of the element 1 as produced when the rays irradiate the photodetecting section 2 is stored into a memory 5. A difference between the output signals from the memories 4 and 5 is computed thereby enabling the detection of the alpharays.
