The quick-stop brake has axial actuators for the brake discs and to arrest the positively interconnected breech control rollers in fault situation. Each roller (3, 4) has its connected shaft 85, 6) with a quick-stop (9) on one shaft (5) and brakes (10) on another shaft (6). The brake discs (20, 21) are axially actuated by respective bevel toothed entrainment discs (13, 14) which are engaged by ratchets (11, 12). The disc (15) handling the brakes (10) is actuated by a trigger (24) and the quick-stop (9) disc (13) by actuator (36) which responds to misfires.
