MANUFACTURE OF LIGHTGUIDE TUBE BY ION EXCHANGE METHOD

摘要

PURPOSE: To obtain a process for producing an optical waveguide which is hardly affected by the influence of a fluctuation in the width of mask openings at the time of forming an optical waveguide on a glass substrate surface by an ion exchange method. CONSTITUTION: This process for producing the optical waveguide which forms the optical waveguide 6 by diffusing and expelling the ions which increase the refractive index of glass by using an ion exchange method and positive type ion exchange mask 4 from a waveguide 3 which is the waveguide 3 formed previously on a glass base body and has the width broader than the width of the optical waveguide 6 to be produced in the process for producing the optical waveguide 6 by the ion exchange method on the glass base body.
