PURPOSE:To automatically select an image clock signal whose frequency optimum to a connected printer engine by detecting the cycle of the synchronous signal in a main scanning direction outputted from the printer engine to automatically select an image clock signal of predetermined frequency. CONSTITUTION:A printer controller is constituted of a plurality of signal generation means (quartz oscillators 8-10) generating image clock signals different in frequency, a detection means (CPU 4) detecting the cycle of the synchronous signal in a main scanning direction outputted from a printer engine 2 and a selection means (quartz oscillator selecting means 7) automatically selecting the image clock signal of predetermined frequency outputted from each signal generation means on the basis of the output of the detection means. |
