PURPOSE:To make it possible to connect shield machines in a horizontal direction in the ground safely and economically without a hitch even if there is a minor slip of position between two shield machines approaching each other and to enable the reduction of the construction cost and period greatly in comparison with underground connection performed in combination with a freezing method. CONSTITUTION:In a stage where two shield machines 1 and 1 connected to each other in the ground approach a position of a connection planned line 10, their own cutter heads 3 are widened in diameter and are driven forward by specific strokes to continue the excavation with the same diameter until they reach the position of the connection planned line 10, and a widening diameter excavation section 9 is completed, and after that, the cutter heads 3 are reduced in diameter and are with-drawn to store them in the shield machine bodies. Concrete is placed in the widening diameter excavation section 9, a concrete body 8 is formed in a state of widening diameter and, at the same time, water stop is ensured between the shield machine bodies and concrete body. In a stage where the concrete body 8 is solidified to display its strength, the concrete body 8 is excavated to penetrate a hole, and underground connection is completed. |
