PURPOSE: To provide a rotating lock for preventing a shaft, which is used in a control rod drive mechanism for a nuclear reactor, from rotating. CONSTITUTION: This rotating lock is provided with a fixed housing 52 for storing a shaft and arms 54, 54b which extend outward from the shaft. At least, one pin 66 is fixed onto the housing as a restraining means in circumferential direction. The pin can be positioned at a retreat position distant from the arms so that the arms can rotate with the shaft without having interference due to the pin. The pin can be positioned at an advance position which permits a contact with the arms to prevent from rotating with the arms and the shaft. A means 76 which positions the pin selectively at the retreat position or the advance position, is provided.
