An organopentasiloxane having the formula A-R<1>-SiMe2(OSiMe2)3OSiR<2>(3-n)(OR<2>)n wherein Me denotes a methyl radical; A is a group selected from the group consisting of methacryloxy, glycidoxy and amino; R<1> is a divalent organic group selected from the group consisting of an alkylene group having at least 2 carbon atoms and an alkyleneoxyalkylene group; R<2> is independently selected from monovalent hydrocarbon groups free of aliphatically unsaturated bonds; and n is an integer having a value of 1 to 3, and methods for the preparation thereof, are disclosed.
