<p>PURPOSE: To obtain a fiber or a filament for producing a nonwoven fabric having high strength, toughness, bondability and heat bondability, to provide a method for producing the nonwoven fabric and to obtain a nonwoven fabric containing the fiber or the filament. CONSTITUTION: One component fiber has an inner zone with a minimum oxidative degradation, a middle zone and a surface zone with a high oxidative degradation and a two-component fiber has a core part besides the zones. A spun melt comprising a polyolefin polymer or copolymer having a broad molecular weight distribution (e.g. a polypropylene having 5.4-7.8 Mw/Mn) and an antioxidant/stabilizer is spun under the minimum chain scission degradation condition. A hot extrudate is taken off in an atmosphere rich in oxygen and sufficiently quenched to give the objective high thermal bonding fiber.</p> |
