The machine is designed to cut both longitudinal and transverse channels in flagstones or ceramic tiles to be smoothed down and polished, facilitating the work of true polishing machines. The said machine for cutting channels is based on a series of cutters 5 mounted on corresponding shafts 6 positioned parallel to each other with the cutters 5 on one shaft being offset with respect to those on the other, the flagstone passing beneath the cutters so that they cut the corresponding channels. The assembly of shafts and cutters is mounted on a head 9 that is adjustable in height by the action of a motor 11 in order to be able to adjust the depth of the channels to be cut. The shafts 6 are driven by corresponding motors 12 mounted, like the adjustment motor 11, on the upper platform provided by the head 9. The machine contains a device that operates on the flagstones to ease the work of smoothing and polishing that has to be done by conventional machines. <IMAGE>
