PURPOSE:To brighten a display screen and to improve a contrast by providing plural double-refractive plastic films varying in extension axis angle on one side of a liquid crystal display element of a TN or STN type. CONSTITUTION:The extension axis angles of the plural double-refractive plastic films 3 to 5 provided on the upper side of the liquid crystal display element 1 vary respectively. The light rays past the liquid crystal display element 2 transmit the respective double-refractive plastic films 3 to 5 and interfere with the double-refractive plastic films 3 to 5. The states of the interference vary with each of the respective double-refractive plastic films 3 to 5 at this time and color tones change with each of the regions where the respective double- refractive plastic films 3 to 5 are provided. In addition, the light transmissivities of the double-refractive plastic film are high. |
