The invention describes compounds of general formula (I) in which: X<3+> is a trivalent metal; Y<2+> is a divalent metal; A<n-> is an inorganic or organic anion with the valency n; 0.1 </= a </= 0.5; 0 </= b </= 1; 0 </= m </= 2; and n is a whole number, and a process for making them. The compounds of the invention are particularly suitable as stabilisers for halogen-containing thermoplastic resins, especially PVC.
