PURPOSE:To obtain a cosmetic, containing acetylated saccharides readily available from saccharides having a relatively low molecular weight at a low cost and capable of forming nonaqueous cured films. CONSTITUTION:Saccharides having 300-10,000mol.wt. (e.g. saccharides extracted from Ophiogonis Tuber or inulin) are dissolved in, e.g. DMF, and then pyridine and acetic anhydride are added to allow the resultant blend to stand at room temperature for a whole day and night. Water is subsequently added to afford acetylated saccharides, which are used as a cosmetic or further medicines, agricultural chemicals, coatings, etc. The above-mentioned acetylated saccharides are obtained as white powder and insoluble in water, but is dissolved in a water-immiscible organic solvent (e.g. benzene, toluene or chloroform) to form nonaqueous cured films, having excellent adhesion (adhesive property) on, e.g. surfaces of nails, and hardly peeled. |
