PURPOSE:To provide a water-soluble vinyl polymer derivative or its salt having animal cell adhesion inhibiting action or platelet aggregation or adhesion suppressing action and provide an animal cell adhesion inhibiting agent or a platelet aggregation and adhesion suppressing agent containing the polymer derivative as an active component. CONSTITUTION:The objective water-soluble vinyl polymer derivative or its salt contains, as essential component, an adhesive peptide containing Arg- Gly-Asp unit bonded to the side chain of a water-soluble vinyl polymer through amide bond or ester bond. The animal cell adhesion inhibiting agent or the platelet aggregation and adhesion suppressing agent contains the water-soluble vinyl polymer derivative or its salt as an active component.
