COMPONENT MOUNTING MACHINE

PURPOSE:To perform a mounting operation whose accuracy is good and whose reliability is high by a method wherein, according to types of components to be mounted, a control part changes over and uses a transmitted illumination recognition means and a reflected illumination recognition means. CONSTITUTION:By means of a control part 12, a transmitted illumination recognition means A is used for a component whose shape is simple and whose color is irregular. The outer-shape image of the component is taken into an image recognition part 10. The posture and the dislocation of the component which has been held by a component-holding part at a component transfer and mounting part 9 are recognized. On the other hand, a reflected illumination recognition means B is used for a component which is smaller than the component-holding part at the component transfer and mounting part or for a component whose electrode part is hardly revealed as the outer shape of the component. The image on a face opposite to the component-holding part of the component is taken into the image recognition part 10. The posture of the dislocation of the component are recognized.
