Nozzles (1) contg. air pressure turbines (2, 8) are mounted on stays (5, 6) on port and starboard sides of the spacecraft, and supplied from a tank (11) of compressed or liq. air via flexible hoses (10, 12). The air pressure for rearward thrust is produced by the turbines (2, 8) with the aid of electric motors (3, 9) powered via respective cables (4, 7) along the stays (5, 6). The turbine outlets are closed by flaps (13, 14). They can be brought into and taken out of use as required, and may be pivoted so that their jets can be redirected either to port or to starboard.
