A granular bleaching activator, comprising a bleach activator granulated in a vortex layer with builders and bridging substances as well as agents for adjusting the rate of dissolution, contains (a) 70-85 wt.% of bleach activator based on N-acetylated cpds., (b) 6-16% of builders and bridging substances, (c) 4-11% of tenside, and (d) 0.7-3% of neutral oil, a hydrophobising mixt. of 10-20C alkanes, alkenes and monochloroalkanes. The ratio by wt. of (a):(c) is 1:0.03-0.08, and of (a):(d) is 1:0.003-0.02. (d) Is a by-prod. contg. n-alkanes, monochloroalkanes and alkenes obtd. in the sulphochlorination of 10-20C n-alkanes. (c) Is a Na alkylsulphonate prepd. by sulphochlorination from a 10-20C n-alkane as raw material, contg. 2-25 wt.% of the raw material and/or by-prods. of the sulpho-chlorination, in the form of n-alkanes, monochloroalkanes and/or n-alkenes. ADVANTAGE - The reciprocal action between bleach activator and bleaching agent ensures rapid and selective action of the peracetic acid on the textile, without needing a high concn. or a great excess.
