PURPOSE:To enable the hermetical sealing of an inexpensive small load cell having a small diameter, by providing vertical circumferential notch steps having the same dimeter to the inside of both outer top and bottom parts and winding a metal strip therearound in a freely bendable manner. CONSTITUTION:The strain receiving body of a load cell has such a hand drum shape that the outer diameters 12, 14 at the top and bottom parts thereof are large and a concavity 16 is formed to the intermediate part thereof and, by utilizing this outer configuration, upper and lower vertical circumferential notch steps 26 having the same diameter are provided in the vicinity of outer top and bottom ends and a freely bendable metal strip 28 is wound around said steps in the vertical direction. Then, the four peripheries of the metal strip 28 and the notch steps 26 are adhered or welded so as to sorround and protect the outer periphery of the strain gauge 18 adhered to the part of the concavity 16 to perform hermetical sealing. Further, if necessary, square metal clamps 30 are simultaneously adhered or welded onto the notch steps 26 at the upper and bottom ends. By this mechanism, it is unnecessary to protect the strain gauge by adding an outer enclosure for doubling the outer diameter of the strain receiving body and at least the volume of the outer enclosure is unnecessary and the size of the load cell is markedly reduced while the cost thereof also becomes inexpensive. |
