A motor drives an actuator (9) and this in turn surrounds a rotor (7) with which the pump wheel is connected. A fixed pot (8) encloses the rotor (7) and the inside of the pot is in contact with the pumped medium. The cylindrical part of the pot (8) is provided with a step (22) so as to form at least two cylindrical sections (18,19). The cylindrical section (19) with the smaller diameter is adjacent the base (13) of the pot. In the zone of the step, so as to form an integral strengthening ring (23), the diameter junction crossover lies on the outer side of the pot nearer to the pot base than that on the inside. A strengthening ring (23) is movable on the smaller section part.
