<p>PURPOSE:To maintain equal steering feeling right and left, and initial steering feeling without any influence by a drop in the characteristics of an electric motor due to a secular change in the mechanism where an assist control for steering is performed with the electric motor. CONSTITUTION:The assist amount of an electric motor in right and left steering directions is preliminarily saved in an initial characteristic setting section 1, according to the magnitude of steering torque and speed. The aforesaid steering torque and speed are detected, and an assist amount corresponding to the magnitude thereof and right and left steering directions is determined (ST6). Also, assist control is performed, and a correction assist control amount corresponding to a difference in values detected before and after the control is generated (ST11 to ST16). In addition, the correction assist control amount is added to the assist control amount based on the initial characteristic setting section 1, thereby controlling the electric motor.</p> |
