<p>Portable water detection apparatus 10 comprises a probe 12 which can be lowered into a body of non-aqueous fluid 74. Water sensing means (e.g. two electrodes) is provided in the probe. A flexible connecting member 14 leads from the probe. Indicating means connected to the flexible connecting member remotely from the probe, is also provided. The indicating means is operatively connected to the water sensing means and is adapted to emit a signal when the sensing means are located in water 76, but not when they are located in the non-aqueous fluid 74 (e.g. hydrocarbon liquids such as petrol). <IMAGE></p> |
