Process and sealing member for fitting an inner pipe to a flue. In the process, a sealing flange 4 is fitted to the lower end of an inner pipe 1 made from acid-resistant material, which sealing flange is made from acid- resistant material and has a fastening cup 3 and in which sealing flange the sealing collar 4 is formed by lamellar sealing strips 4a, and the inner pipe 1 is introduced through the upper end of the flue 6 so that the strips 4a are bent such that they partially overlap one on top of the other and form a sealing surface between the inner face of the flue 6 and the inner pipe 1. Once the inner pipe 1 has been introduced into the flue 6, it is fastened by its upper end to the upper end of the flue 6, in the flue 6 mortar 7 is held on top of the sealing flange 4 formed by the strips 4a between the inner pipe 1 and the flue 6, lightweight concrete 8, acting as extra heat insulation, is held between the inner pipe 1 and the flue 6, and the upper end of the inner pipe 1 is bricked firmly in place to the flue 6.
