PURPOSE: To speed up a light beam crossing processing by providing plural converting processors for three-dimensional computer graphics and storing calculation results in a common memory. CONSTITUTION: A host computer 12 is provided with a converting engine 14 through an interface 16. The converting engine 14 is composed of plural converting processors 34 and a dedicated memory 32. Border volumes, polygon data, and light beam description data stored in the memory of the host 12 are transferred by a DMA circuit 30 to the memory 32. Each converting processor 34 performs light beam intersection calculation only as to selected border volumes and polygon data and transfers the calculation results to the common memory 36. The calculation results are parameters showing the entry point and exiting point of a light beam as to the border volumes and parameters indicating the intersection of a polygon and the light beam for the polygon data. |
