ERBIUM-DOPED FIBER AMPLIFIER

PURPOSE: To make it possible to obtain optimum gain characteristics by specifying the core-clad refractive index difference of a fiber. CONSTITUTION: The parameters to determine the operation characteristics of the erbium-doped fiber amplifier are the density of the erbium in the core of the fiber, the ratio of the radius of the fiber core doped with the erbium to the radius of the core of the fiber and the length of the fiber. These parameters and the relations between these are regulated in order to embody the erbium- doped fiber amplifier having the optimum gain characteristics.
