PURPOSE:To send an operation maintenance cell by the easy control of hardware by generating the address of a routing field conversion table to sweep it at the time of reception of an operation maintenance cell sending indication and sending the operation maintenance cell to only corresponding destinations in accordance with idle cell designating information. CONSTITUTION:When receiving the operation maintenance (OAM) cell sending indication, an OAM cell sending circuit generates the address of a routing field conversion table (RFT) 16 by an address counter 17 with respect to hardware to sweep it. An OAM cell having contents designated by an OAM cell contents table 11 is sent to destinations of a routing field which are designated as effective in a line interface by idle cell information of the RFT, but an idle cell is sent to destinations which are designated as ineffective. Thus, proper OAM cells are easily and quickly sent without the complicated control of a CPU.
