The invention provides a shipping container apparatus (10) for bulk granulated material, the apparatus (10) having a lower wall (14) with discharge openings (36) therein. Doors (38) are provided for opening and closing the discharge openings (36), the doors (38) being actuated by an actuating structure (40) which is mounted for vertical movement relative to the container (10) apparatus. The actuating structure (40) has upper portions (80) which serve as conventional lifting connectors (82) or receptacles (82) at corners of the container (10), which cooperate with conventional hooks or dogs of a conventional container lifting apparatus, so that raising the actuating structure opens the doors (38), and lowering the actuating structure closes the doors (38). This permits granulated material within the container (10) to be dumped into a lower container (10) or conveyance without requiring any specialized lifting or opening equipment. |
