PURPOSE:To facilitate jam treatment by breaking a specified drive motive selectively on the basis of a signal given by a sheet sensing means when a mistransporting sensing means has sensed failure in sheet transportation, opening certain specified members of the recording device concerned, removing the failed sheet, shutting the specified members, and restituting the drive motive. CONSTITUTION:A mistransporting sensing means (timer) 108a measures the time at which a sheet goes by, and if any failure is sensed, i.e., if a certain specified time has elapsed without passage of any sheet, an appropriate signal is given from sheet existence sensing means 16, 22 to a control means 108, which breaks the drive motive related to that position selectively. In this condition, certain specified members 10, 17 (cassette, upper block) are opened and upon removal of the failed sheet, are shut. The control means 108 restitutes the drive motive. |
