PURPOSE:To allow easy and adequate printing in various printing systems by changing over the feeding operation of recording paper on which images are recorded according to the presence or absence of an ink ribbon or the kind of the ink ribbon. CONSTITUTION:Whether the ink ribbon 416 is set or not is discriminated when a print mode is started. A graded thermosensitive mode is judged when the ink ribbon 416 is not set. Whether black is detected or not is discriminated by ribbon leader sensors A417 and B418 if the ribbon is set. A fusion type mode is judged when the black marker m is detected by the ribbon leader sensor A417 alone. A sublimation type mode is judged when the black marker m is detected by the ribbon leader sensor B418 alone. The kind of the recording paper Pa is then detected by the sensors A414, B415 for detecting the recording paper and the recording paper Pa is transported by a prescribed distance in the insertion direction by a DC servo motor 420. |
