The installation for plasma remelting of the surface layer of metal ingots 8 comprises a hermetically sealed cylindrical chamber (1) with holes (29) provided on its lateral surface to fit the number of plasmatrons (26) and with a main cover (2) positioned on one of its ends (4), and an ingot holder (7), having a platform (19) mechanically interconnected with the main cover (2) and with its main supports (9, 10, 11, 12), wherein main rolls (21, 22) are fitted. Positioned a above the ingot holder (7) is a means (25) for introducing plasmatrons, comprising a group of individual plasmatron holders (27), each of which accommodates a socket (28) enclosing the plasmatron (26) running through the hole (29) of the hermetically sealed cylindrical chamber (1), a means (30) for vertical travel and a scanning means (31) being interconnected mechanically with the plasmatron (26).
