PURPOSE:To reduce connecting loss by making the mode field diameter of one end part larger than that of an intermediate part. CONSTITUTION:An optical fiber jumper is formed of a core 1, a clad 2, a hermetic coating 3, a covering 4, and mode field diameter enlarged parts 5, 6. In addition, unillustrated appropriate connectors or the like are usually provided at both ends. The hermetic coating 3 is applied to the outer periphery of the optical fiber formed of the core 1 and the clad 2, and the covering 4 is provided thereon. The mode field diameters of the both end parts 5, 6 of the optical fiber are gradually enlarged toward the end faces. Connecting loss is thereby reduced. |
