PURPOSE:To improve the liquid leakage proof and shelf life of a battery by, when hermetically sealing the battery by interposing an insulative packing between a sealing plate and container, effecting the hermetic sealing while the interior of an adhesive layer formed on a surface of the packing still remains half-dried. CONSTITUTION:Into a metallic container 1, is filled a positive electrode compound 2 principally made of silver oxide. On the compound 2, a separator film 3 and electrolyte-retaining material 4 are mounted. In addition, a negative electrode compound 5 of amalgamated zinc is superposed on the material 4 and seated in the container 1. Then, the opening 7 of the metallic container 1 is hermetically sealed by a metallic sealing plate with an insulative packing 8, which has an adhesive layer 9 on its outer surface, interposed between the container 1 and sealing plate 6, thereby fabricating a battery. Here, a nylon-type polyamide resin or the like is used as the adhesive layer 9 of the insulative packing 8. After forming the layer 9, it is dried. This drying is effected in such a manner that the outer surface 10 is dried but the interior 11 still contains the solvent. In other words, the adhesive layer 9 is dried to a half-dried state. In this half-dried state, the battery is hermetically sealed. |
