PURPOSE:To obtain the title foam having a high expansion ratio and being freed from a structural defect due to the generated water vapor by molding a resin composition comprising an olefin resin, a hydrated metal oxide, a flame retardant, a flame-retarding aid, a thermally decomposable blowing agent and CaO as a desiccating agent and crosslinking and expanding the molding. CONSTITUTION:A resin composition comprising an olefin resin (e.g. vinyl acetate/ethylene copolymer), a hydrated metal oxide [e.g. Al(OH)3], a flame-retarding aid (e.g. Sb2O3), a thermally decomposable blowing agent (e.g. azodicarbonamide) and CaO as a desiccating agent is molded at a temperature below the decomposition of the blowing agent into a molding of any desired shape, which is crosslinked chemically or by irradiation with an ionizing radiation, and the crosslinking molding is expanded by heating to a temperature equal to or higher than the decomposition temperature of the blowing agent. |
