<p>PURPOSE:To efficiently refine a steel contg. a high grade steel by mechanically separating a steel part from scrap, recovering it, separating coating impurities, thereafter executing melting and separating away impurity elements in the presence of carbon. CONSTITUTION:From composite scrap, a part essentially consisting of steel is mechanically separated in a solid cold state, and, owing to magnetization properties, copper, plastics or the like are removed. The part essentially consisting of steel is heated to a temp. at which the steel part is not melted to separate away coating material such as plating parts and deposit. The scrap subjected to pretreatment is melted, and, in the state where the content of carbon is regulated to >=3%, the reaction between sulfur and impurities is progressed to effectively remove Sn or the like. Carbon in the molten iron in which impurity elements have been separated is decarburized away to obtain the desired molten steel.</p> |
