Removal device for paint from metal items - delivers retort fumes to after-burner chamber via solids filter

The equipment removes paint from sheet-metal and other metal items, particularly components of old cars, using a retort in which a gas current supports the fluidised bed, and into which the items are delivered. Fumes generated by paint removal are extracted from the retort and delivered into an after-burner chambr, containing a burner and preceded by a combustion chamber. The cleaned air is discharged to atmosphere, and the retort is heated by the sensible heat from the processing gas energising from the after-burner chamber. The fumes extracted from the retort (1) by an exhauster (9) are delivered via a solids filter (8) into the after-burner chamber (4). Part (10) of the hot processing gas from the latter is delivered to the retort, while the remainder (11) is passed through a steam-generator (12) with heat-exchanger (13). This supplies steam to the retort, while a cleaning system (15) for the cooled waste air discharged to atmosphere is connected to the steam-generator. ADVANTAGE - Can handle items generating dust on stripping, also complete car bodies.
