The osteosynethesis instrument, particularly for setting fractures, comprises an enclosing clamp of flat strip similar to a pipe- or hose-clip. A detachable tightening mechanism engages with transverse slots in the strip to vary the circumference in the closed position. The strip (10) has a mounting component (28) at the end (14) nearest the bone, and through which the other end (16) is passed. This also supports the tightening mechanism (12), which mvoes the ends towards each other. It also deflects the outer end (16), bending it upwards and back towards the inner end.
