PURPOSE:To optimize matching processing by changing matching conditions, such as various parameters and threshold values, for the purpose of pattern matching according to the results of identification of road kinds. CONSTITUTION:The matching conditions, such as various kinds of the threshold values, for matching the two patterns are changed according the results obtd. by identifying the kind of the road on which a moving body travels at present. While the road pattern of a specified length connecting the plural estimated present positions and the pattern of the traveling loci of the moving body of likewise the specified length are compared, the prescribed processing of both pattern matching is executed. The matching conditions, such as various kinds of the parameters and threshold values, are previously registered in a memory according to the kinds of the roads and are selectively read out and changed over according to the results obtd. by identifying the kind of the road on which the moving body travels at present. The matching processing meeting the kind of the road on which the moving body travels at present is most adequately executed in this way by taking the problems in map formation into consideration. |
