Disclosed is a simulation method which is capable of simulating an operation of a general apparatus, including an electric circuit, and fault diagnosis thereof by a process model provided by expanding a conventional model having a structure of the apparatus and an operation of parts by addition of concepts of processes (42) and media (37). The simulation method includes a parts data base (41) for holding data on the parts of an object to be diagnosed, and a process model storage (42-1) for holding data on relationships between the parts in each of processes as well as data on relationships between an operation of each of the processes and attributes of media (42-2) used in the object. <IMAGE>
