A sealing device comprises an outer metal ring (4), an inner metal ring (7) and an intermediate annular seal (6) therebetween which protrudes beyond the lateral surfaces of the rings (4, 7), and has further protruding annular seals (11, 12) mounted opposite each other in recesses (13, 14) in the opposing surfaces of the inner ring (7). For improved sealing properties, the width of the intermediate annular seal (6) where it protrudes is substantially equal to the sum of the protruding widths of the further annular seals (11, 12) and the inner ring material therebetween, and at least one crosspiece (16) connects the inner edge of the inner ring and itself has a protruding sealing ridge (20). Furthermore the annular seals (6, 11, 12) and the sealing ridge (20) are all formed of compressible high temperature resistant expanded graphite material. <IMAGE> |
