<p>An inhalation device comprising a housing (1) containing a medicament reservoir and defining a patient port in the form of a mouthpiece (2) or nasal adaptor, means for metering a dose of medicament from said medicament reservoir and means to aerosolise said dose of medicament, the inhalation device additionally comprising a cover (7) for the mouthpiece or aerosolisation means movable between open and closed positions, the cover requiring an inspiration independent energy source for opening, e.g. manual or electromechanical actuation and having a self-closing action e.g. spring biased (6), electromechanical etc., such that the patient port (2) or aerosolisation means is sealed when the inhalation device is released by the patient. Thus, the inhalation device may be automatically sealed when the patient has received a dose of medicament or should the inhalation device be dropped or otherwise released by the patient.</p> |
