摘要 METHOD AND APPARATUS RESULTING IN REDUCED FLOW OF BITUMEN PAST APERTURED ENDLESS BELT INVERTED ARCH BOTTOM FLIGHT(S) WHEN SEPARATING BITUMEN FROM MIXTURE(S) CONTAINING SAME. A process and apparatus for the recovery of bitumen and bitumen wetted minerals from separating mixtures of bitumen, bitumen wetted minerals, water and water wetted minerals using one or more apertured endless belts on conveyor supports that support each belt to form a top flight approaching a generally horizontal path above separating mixture and a bottom flight in the form of or approaching an inverted arch immersed in separating mixtures, wherein the width of endless belts is greater than 98% of the distance between end walls, is greater than 98% of the distance between baffles, or is greater than 98% of the distance between an end wall and a baffle, along which distance(s) immersed belt bottom flight(s) is/are mounted. Bitumen separates from mixtures is captured by and adheres to belt surfaces as mixtures passes through bottom flight apertures, and is conveyed to corresponding top flights where it falls off into receptacle(s) and/or is washed off with water. Mixture and/or washed off bitumen passes through the apertures of one or more bottom flights and is removed from the apparatus after it has become bitumen depleted. Flexible, friction and wear resistant protrusions are provided on each belt edge to achieve belt widths during operation that are greater than 98 percent of said distance, and friction and wear resistant and/or hydrophilic wall and baffle coverings are provided to reduce friction and wear with belt edges and to reduce flow of bitumen past belt edges.
