PURPOSE:To rapidly raise light output in the initial lighting-on to the target rated value of the light output by having a neural network learned, with an input value and an output value considered as learning signals, so as to control the supply power or current to a high pressure discharge lamp. CONSTITUTION:The supply power or current from an AC power supply 1 in a high pressure discharge lamp 3 is varied by having a neural network 5 and 19 learned with an input value and an output value considered as learning signals. Namely, by inputting the illuminance of the lamp at the time-of-day t and the illuminance at the time-of-day DELTAt thereafter in the neural network which has finished the learning process, the signal to a programmable counter at the time-of-day t, required to arrive at the target illuminance, is calculated. Thus, the input/output characteristic of the lamp is converted into the quantity called the weight of the synapse so as to store it in a memory 23, so that the signal required to gain a certain illuminance, i.e., the inverse function of the input/output function, can be obtained. Consequently, in the initial lighting-on, a light output can be forced to rapidly reach the rated value without depending on characteristics of an individual lamp. |
