PURPOSE:To enable correction by direct numerical input and to improve correction operability by enabling both candidate character correction (character number input) and the direct input correction in a character correcting process on an optical character reader(OCR). CONSTITUTION:A character string which is inputted to the reader 1 is read and the result is displayed in a correction picture 41. At the same time, correction candidate characters are displayed on a display 4. A cursor is positioned and a numerical key (3 in this case) of the ten-key 51 of a keyboard 5 is pressed, so that the character is replaced by a candidate character. Further, one of character keys 52 is operated and then the character is replaced by the character of the key. When a numerical is corrected, a numerical key among the character keys 52 is operated and then the numerical (or character) at the cursor position is replaced by the input numerical. Consequently, the burden on an operator who handles documents in quantities is lightened. |
