MONOCLONAL ANTIBODY OP-G2 AND METHOD OF USE

A murine IgG monoclonal antibody, OP-G2, has been characterized, which is specific for the glycoprotein (GP) IIb-IIIa complex. OP-G2 recognizes an epitope at or in very close proximity to the Arg-Gly-Asp (RGD)-recognition site. The heavy chain of OP-G2 contains within CDR3 of its variable region the sequence RYD which may account for its specificity for the RGD recognition sites of GPIIb-IIIa. The binding of OP-G2 to purified GPIIb-IIIa is inhibited by RGD-containing peptides but not the fibrinogen gamma A chain carboxy-terminal peptide.
