PURPOSE:To draw characters of sufficiently high quality by preparing outline stroke data on multiple fonts of the same face and different line width and selecting one of these fonts according to a specified character size, to eliminate compensation processing resulting in lowering of drawing speed. CONSTITUTION:Outline stroke data on multiple fonts a to c of the same face and different line width are stored in a memory device 2. A processor 1 selects the most suitable font from among specified faces of outline fonts a to c according to a specified character size. Then it reads out the outline data on the specified characters of selected font from a font data area 23 of a main memory 2, gives 2 and modification, and produces a corresponding dot pattern at a specified position of a page memory 6. Thus characters of sufficiently high quality can be outputted without compensating line width, line space, etc., despite short processing period. |
